National – This weekend March 2-2014 the High Council of the Mighty Black Sabbath Motorcycle Club Nation unanimously accepted and approved a new design for the Black Sabbath Sisters of the Cross back patch.
“The SOTC are a vital component of our nation and we want them to have a look and feel that recognizes them as riders and gives them the opportunity to express themselves as bikers,” said Black Dragon, National President of the Mighty Black Sabbath M.C. Nation. “”When the SOTC get 7 riders the ladies are allowed to break away and form their own Black Sabbath protected MC as our sister club so the move to this design gives them the freedom and autonomy to act as an operating, independent MC under our protection should they so desire,” said Dragon.
In years past women were only considered “Auxiliary” members of a BSMC Nation chapter and were not allowed to rise above that designation. Though some exceptions were made by rouge presidents who independently gave some women full member patches, the practice was never approved nationally as the bylaws expressly called for the BSMC to be a male only organization with women set apart as auxiliary. After Black Dragon became National President in 2010, he established the Goddess program which acknowledge women in the BSMC Nation with more authority and recognition for their participation, love and dedication to the Mighty Black Sabbath MC Nation. In 2011 the Macon, GA chapter emerged onto the scene with several hard core riding women who did not like to be referred to as Goddesses because Goddesses did not ride motorcycles and the women wanted recognition similar to other women who rode in their own MCs established by women, yet they did not want to leave the BSMC Nation. Black Dragon and the Hog Man (National VP) then designed the Sisters of the Cross MC to operate as a sister club MC to the Black Sabbath MC so that they could remain under the BSMC umbrella yet gain their own autonomy. Utilizing this program many Goddesses have elevated themselves into SOTC status buying and learning how to operate motorcycles and have even been challenging the men by riding just as hard – if not harder!
“I am pleased that the High Council ruled on this matter quickly and justly,” said Black Dragon. “One of the biggest objections voiced by dissenting presidents was whether or not to remove the MC designation from the SOTC ladies. The womenfolk did not like that idea I can promise you! Those presidents wanted to remove any appearance of the BSMC morphing into a coed MC as these presidents were strict traditionalists who followed the bylaws like disciples. I think this was a good compromise that satisfies all. Not everyone got everything they wanted but everyone did get something and the ladies have advanced themselves within our Nation. They will be forever known as SOTC and can continue to fly our name with pride across the Nation. I can’t wait to see what else they accomplish as the years go by.”
Congratulations Sisters of the Cross MC of the Mighty Black Sabbath Motorcycle Club Nation! Great job! Ride hard and remember to keep the rubber side down!
